One of the exciting aspects of living on the rural fringe is living within a community rather than a suburb. Despite living only 25 minutes from the CBD (I’m sure that statistic was determined at 3am one Sunday morning – as it surely didn’t consider the daily Monday to Friday commute!), amongst many other things, we have our own local newspaper and an annual 3-day festival. Held in March each year, the Warrandyte festival is a weekend of family fun and community spirit, including a parade along the main street of this relatively country town, a highly contested billy cart derby and a duck race (of the yellow plastic variety)!
Invited to capture the faces of the festival for a report in the local Warrandyte Diary, I photographed hundreds of people over the weekend. Of course, it’s the kids that always make an event such as this…
